"I had a little trouble pairing this, but the customer service rep was extremely helpful and walked me through everything. High quality company."
"Dependable! Have it on a moto r 7 for the multinational tour I am on. 10x better audio quality and clear comms then the Motorola accessories."
"I have used n-ear ear pieces for the last three years and have no complaints. This is my first mic from them and been using it daily for the last few weeks and have had no issues. No complaints from dispatch with the sound quality. Also purchased the Bluetooth button and attached it to my steering wheel, the activation through the button is seamless no delay."
"Great mic and way better than the traditional coil mics. Easier to string through my vest, easier to put in a place I need, and keeps my rifle shoulder free from a mic or coil to my handheld. Half of my department has bought their own already!"
"Entry Date: 1/1/2025 Let me start by stating that the clarity of my voice on this PTT was clear and crisp. Best one I have used so far. With this said, I ordered this with my agency and used it in the office as a testing phase first before heading out to the road. Pros: 1. ) Clear and crisp sound. No issues with transmissions. 2. ) Small and convenient. Allows for deleting a large bulky Motorola mic. from my molle vest to make room for other items. 3. ) Discrete and picks up a lot of information without having to yell into the mic. Cons: 1. ) Prior to purchasing, I called N-Ear and spoke with a Sales Person/ Representative to make sure that the N-Ear 360 Original (12") 3. 5mm (Left) earpiece I had already, would work with the Choice PTT. The rep. stated that it would. I proceeded to place the order and was all too stoked when it arrived. Upon plugging in my N-Ear 360 Original earpiece, I noticed it would not seat completely into the PTT. (Photos attached). 2. ) Due to 3. 5mm audio jack from the earpiece not seating into the PTT properly, it slides out of the port with minimal effort, making this earpiece/PTT combo not ideal for situations when pertinent information needs to be received during rapidly evolving scenarios, or perhaps where you might break out in a sprint or get into any physical situation. 3. ) To add insult to injury, say the earpiece does disconnect from the PTT, well then there is no audio whatsoever, coming from the PTT or your radio (Motorola APX NEXT). 4. ) There is nothing in their details section for this item that addresses compatibility issues across their product line with this item. If only N-Ear would provide some guidance on their website that would address this issue. I am waiting for the holiday to pass before I contact them again via phone about resolving this issue. I want to love this item, but it is really hard to believe that this is a known manufacturer defect in their product line of compatibility."
"I have gotten so much feedback from my co-workers on how much of a difference this mic can make on the importance of communication!! I highly recommended. Thank you guys for this product !! Is insanely amazing"
"Makes a perfect connection and provides clear broadcasts. I’d buy it again."
"I've used a standard ear piece for years and wish I would have found this sooner. It is so light you don't feel it. The audio is clear and the way it sits in your ear the volume can be so much lower and still hear what you need to hear. Unless there is radio traffic you still can hear like you are not wearing the ear piece. The only thing I would change is a little longer cord on the PTT Mic. This unit is well worth the price."
"I purchased both the Choice PTT/mic (tier 2) and the wireless PTT button. Instead of doing two reviews I’m just combining them (especially since they are bought to be used together). I am writing the review after using the Choice PTT/mic and wireless button on shift (uniformed patrol). I understand that the product is maybe slightly more geared towards an undercover/plainclothes/private security/investigations role; however, as I am not any of those roles I can’t speak to it. Let’s dive in: — Coming from Motorola products with the rubber-y coil-y mic cable that would stretch out and rip and you’d have wires running everywhere…this is very nice. The braided line feels strong and of good quality, and it is easy for cable management to run it through MOLLE or epaulets. I do wish that the cord was like 6 inches longer, and it’s mentioned in other reviews, too. Again, this may have to do with me being in uniform and armor as opposed to the intended plainclothes. — The bottom snuggly attached the APX6000 that I’m issued with no problems. It is secure, doesn’t wiggle, and screws down tight. — The product itself is very small. It’s hard to have a frame of reference from the website as the pictures are understandably taken in a photo shoot and not in the hand. It’s about the size of a nice thick kinda fat thumb. It seems that the plastic is well made and it feels like you could squeeze it pretty good and it would withstand it. — The clip feels sturdy. BUT - because the mic is so small, obviously the clip is limited in how big it can be. I use the mic loop and the clip fits perfectly on the loop (as it’s really just paracord). The clip has a free swivel on the mic. The swivel is free in that is doesn’t ‘click’ around like Motorola’s clips, but the clip isn’t going to spin loose-y goose-y. — In my opinion the weakest point of the Choice Mic is the earpiece jack. 3.5 mm jack is on obviously on there so you can use your other N-Ear products. When you use a 3.5mm jack on other products there is a tactile ‘click’. On this one there is no satisfying or tactile click that lets you know (by feel alone) your jack is securely seated. The problem with this lies in the fact that while I was on patrol, which can involve hopping out of your car quickly, running, fighting, etc…my earpiece didn’t say fully seated. It slid out about 2%. Why is this bad? Its bad because of this: the website description (at the time of this review) says under “More Details” and then “Design” —> “Turns off loudspeaker on the speaker mic when using an earpiece”. This sentence implies that there is a loudspeaker on the Choice PTT/Mic. But my Choice PTT/Mic (tier 2) does not have a loudspeaker. When I securely attach the Choice to the radio and turn it on no sound comes out at all. You have to plug in your earpiece to hear anything. So when I was making quick movements or searching a car, my earpiece jack would slide out that 2%, I wouldn’t know about it, and then I’m missing radio traffic. — The microphone itself is great at picking up your voice. It is very very clear to hear on the radio. Excellent quality. — The PTT button feels crisp and you have a nice ‘click’ when pressing the button. Because the product is small, the button is small. — The Wireless Button is a joy to use. It literally brought a grin to my face when I used it for the first time. On my first shift using this product I got into a vehicle pursuit, and it was great keeping my hands on wheel and pressing the button to talk on the radio. I mounted my Button on the steering wheel on the left side sort of over the cruise control buttons on my Tahoe. It was slightly difficult to put on, but I realize that the Velcro is designed to be used on multiple different products. My Button is secure. The button has a very satisfying and tactile press and depress / click. The Button should become the new standard for police cars. It is a must have in my opinion. — Overall, I think the product is well made. It is small and appears that it would be very good for covert operations or private security. For uniform patrol it could be hit or miss. Maybe in my product that I received the loudspeaker is damaged and the earpiece jack clicks into place on other ones. If you are in patrol and routinely fight, jump, run, etc, this product may not be for you. The cost of making those quick movements, your earpiece coming out slightly, and you losing touch with your help is too great of a risk. On the flip side, it looks very presentable, has a good microphone, solid cable, and is easy to use organize for cable management. It is also GREAT if paired with the Button. Suggestion: I would love to see a “patrol” version of the Choice mic. My idea of this consists of: - a loudspeaker - some sort of click or something that forces the earpiece jack to remain seated - a bigger clip - Even though the cable is nice already, make it thicker (even if it’s not strictly necessary) for more of a premium and sturdy feel - Slightly longer braided cord - Like 2, 2.5, or even 3 times bigger for easier grabbing in gnarly situations. - The mic should stay the same and so should the pairing with the Button. Final thoughts: buy it as long as you know the drawbacks and consider what you’re using it for. My gripes may not apply to you. You should also buy the Wireless Button. Of note: the staff members who helped me and talked to me and answered my incessant questions were all kind, courteous, and responsive."
